The restoration and expansion of the Santa Maria Nuova Hospital in Florence were carried out using Pietra Serena supplied by Calamini, in the honed finish technique.
The Santa Maria Nuova Hospital is the oldest still active hospital in Florence. It is the only one in the historical center, and has its main entrance in the homonymous square of Santa Maria Nuova, which runs between Via Bufalini and Via Sant’Egidio, and takes its name from the ancient church of the hospital. Calamini has been responsible for the supply of material in Serena Stone of Firenzuola.
